Long Chin-San 130th Anniversary Photography Contest: Celebrating a Legacy of Artistic Innovation

Group-73.png
Since the inception of photography with Louis Daguerre and the pioneering work of Oscar Gustave Rejlander in composite photography in 1857, the realm of visual art has witnessed tremendous evolution. Little did anyone imagine that, even before the age of Photoshop, Long Chin-San would embark on his own “Photoshop” experimentation in the 1930s, merging Chinese painting theory with composite pictures in the darkroom. This groundbreaking approach solidified his position as a prominent figure in the history of Chinese photographic art.
In honor of Long Chin-San’s 130th birth anniversary, we present the Long Chin-San 130th Anniversary Photography Contest, an opportunity to draw inspiration from his diverse artistic imagery and create works that resonate with the present time and space for students and people under 40. This competition invites submissions that explore various themes, including Chinese landscape art, conceptual visuals, meticulous observations of everyday objects, and artistic creativity. The goal for these submissions not only set the standard for the competition but also infuse fresh vitality into the field of photographic art, inspiring creativity among photography enthusiasts.
Join us in commemorating the artistic legacy of Long Chin-San, as we celebrate his groundbreaking contributions and ignite a new era of photographic expression.
